Every verse in the Septuagint that contains “boēthos” (help/helper)

Boēthos has a strong and vital sense

The word translated as “help” or “helper” in Genesis 2 has a strong sense in both the original Hebrew and in the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint (LXX). This strength is shown when we look at the context of every verse in the Septuagint that contains the word.

The following is every verse in the LXX that contains the noun boēthos (“help, helper”) or the cognate verb boētheō (“help”). These verses are taken from Brenton’s edition of the Septuagint. Note that the chapters and verses of the LXX do not always correspond with the chapters and verses of the Hebrew Tanakh or English Old Testament. And scroll down for the Greek.

I have made bold the words “help” and “helper” where boēthos is a translation of the noun ezer (in books translated from the Hebrew Bible).
